Jakarta, ONENEWS.MY.ID – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment General TNI (Ret.) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that the opening of East Java Juanda International Airport for Foreign Travel Actors (PPLN) will be carried out in stages. This is to avoid the risk of increasing the spread of Covid-19.

“Like for example, once a week there is an evaluation, learning process,” said Luhut as quoted from a written statement from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Friday (12/31/2021).

For the initial stage, Luhut explained, Juanda Airport can receive three international flights per week and only for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). Meanwhile, evaluations are carried out every week. If the results are good, it is possible to increase the number of flights.

“I ask the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Health, the Brawijaya Military Commander, the East Java Police Chief, and Angkasa Pura I to monitor and evaluate the process and flow of PPLN arrivals at Juanda Airport continuously,” he said.

For the arrival flow, there are three things that are of concern, namely the flow of the PPLN arrival process so that there is no buildup, adding personnel for each flow, and data integration with the Ministry of Transportation.

Furthermore, Luhut claimed to have asked the Head of BNPB, East Java Governor, Brawijaya Military Commander, East Java Police Chief, and PHRI representatives to ensure the quarantine process runs smoothly.

“I ask for strict supervision so that there are no leaks. In addition, make sure all the logistical needs of quarantine homes can be met and the budget is available,” said Luhut.

Regarding the implementation of the policy, Luhut also emphasized that all workers from the airport to the quarantine area are given adequate protection and tested regularly. With good preparation, he believes the PPLN acceptance process at Juanda Airport will be better.
