SM Entertainment is known for its annual agenda which is regularly held in several years. Such as world tour concerts, winter albums, collaborations between idol group members and other projects. Starting from January 1, 2021, for the first time SMTOWN LIVE is held for free through an online concert that can be watched by fans around the world. Again, with the consistency of SM Entertainment again holding a free online concert this year with the theme ‘SMTOWN LIVE SMCU 2022’ on Saturday, (1/1/2022) at 11.00 WIB.

The concert this time was fresher and more special, accompanied by shades of bright colors that gave a cheerful yet elegant impression. Kangta, BoA, TVXQ!, Super Junior, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon Girls’ Generation, Onew, Key, Minho SHINee, Kai EXO, Red Velvet, NCT U, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV, aespa, GOT the beat, RAIDEN, GINJO , IMLAY, JEB, MINIMONSTER, Mar Vista, and Hitchhiker who participated in enlivening the concert. The first performance opened with an energetic performance from TVXQ! ‘Rising Sun’ and closed with the last song full of joy, ‘빛 (Hope From KWANGYA)’.

There were a total of 40 performers, including the first performance of GOT the beat’s performed at this concert and the unique collaboration and special DJ party performances with various remixes of songs. Reported from SM Entertainment’s official Twitter @SMTOWNGLOBAL on Sunday (2/1/2021) that the SMTOWN LIVE SMCU @KWANGYA online concert recorded 51 million streams in 161 regions worldwide and became a new record for Korean online concert broadcasts.

SM Entertainment always presents technological novelty in every innovation and development of the works it creates. Likewise, the online concert this time was presented in totality supported by lighting arrangements, stage art, video shooting techniques, clear audio quality and equipped with light, artistic stage, very satisfying shooting techniques and accompanied by AR (Augmented Reality) technology typical of SM Entertainment. as well as being the first agency to hold the first concert with AR technology, starting with the Beyond Live concert in 2020.

Not to forget, in order to welcome the new year 2022, all artists convey their messages to fans about hopes and prayers in 2022. One of them was a message from Super Junior, represented by Leeteuk, “Dear (dearest) ELF, hopefully we all have more to laugh at in the new year. Everyone, happy new year~!”

Through this concert, ‘Kwangya’ was officially introduced after going through various theories and concepts that are interconnected between the works that have been created by SM Entertainment through the songs and music videos of the artists. Kwangya is a virtual space in the SMCU (SM Culture Universe) worldview and all SM artists take the train to get to Kwangya.
