“A kind of old love blossomed again..”

ONENEWS.MY.ID – Veteran striker, Alberto Goncalves, has been a constant topic of discussion in the Indonesian football scene. Recently, the naturalized Brazilian player has officially returned to his old club, Madura United. This was announced directly through the club’s official social media account on Monday (3/1) morning WIB.

Even though he is now 41 years old, it seems that Beto doesn’t care at all and continues to want to prove his quality at the highest level of Indonesian football.

“Welcome back to Madura United mansion, Alberto Goncalves da Costa!” write a caption in the post.

Beto was brought in with the intention of increasing the pounding power of the club nicknamed ‘Sape Kerrab’ who will navigate the second round of Liga 1 for the 2021-22 season.

“The Brazilian-born player will fill the position as a striker in Sape Kerrab’s squad in this second round,”

Interestingly, before returning to Madura United, Beto had just succeeded in delivering Persis Solo promotion to League 1 by becoming the 2021 Liga 2 champion.

In that competition, Beto’s sharpness in front of goal deserves thumbs up, where he scored 11 goals and made him the top scorer.

Beto himself during his first period at Madura United, the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, based on records from Transfermarkt, managed to score 21 goals from 30 appearances and this will be a further proof for Beto.

But despite these flashy statistics, Beto Goncalves’ move to Madura United does leave a number of questions, including regulations concerning the phenomenon of League 2 players moving to Liga 1.

As we know, the competition time span between the completion of Liga 2 and the start of the second round of Liga 1 in this season is quite close. Thus allowing the clubs to move in the transfer market.
