“Will really move from Fiorentina?”

ONENEWS.MY.ID – After Dusan Vlahovic hinted he could be open to extending his contract at Fiorentina, director Joe Barone accused his agent of showing a ‘lack of respect’ and ‘money money’.

The striker’s current contract expires in June 2023 and negotiations for an extension stalled definitively a few months ago.

With the Viola moving up the Serie A table, Vlahovic gave an interview in Serbia which suggested he could reconsider his position and discuss extending his stay at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

However, Fiorentina director Barone was not at all impressed.

“We don’t want to take the fans out for a walk. Vlahovic’s interview was not validated, a bit like Romelu Lukaku’s interview at Chelsea,” said Barone during the presentation of new signing this Tuesday (04/01/2022), Jonathan Ikone.

“There hasn’t been a door opening or a different scenario over the last few weeks, at least as far as we’ve heard from his agent.”

“During the last meeting with President Rocco Commisso, Vlahovic’s agent almost doubled down on his demands, showing a lack of respect for the club and the President.”

“I then met with his agent and the same thing happened. No step forward, no progress. We have been working on this negotiation for about a year. When we increased our offer, they kept asking for better salaries and commissions.”

Juventus continued to try to sign Vlahovic, but he was also in demand by Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, while Arsenal did not appear to be on the player’s radar.

Vlahovic turns 22 later this month and has continued his excellent form this season, scoring 18 goals in 22 competitive appearances in a Fiorentina shirt between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

He broke the club record set by Gabriel Batistuta with 33 Serie A goals during the 2021 calendar year, nine more than the next player on the list, Lazio’s Ciro Immobile and Inter striker Lautaro Martinez with 24 goals each.
