ONENEWS.MY.ID, Jakarta – Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi was reportedly arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday afternoon, January 5, 2022. Prior to his arrest, Rahmat had attended a plenary meeting at the Bekasi City DPRD Building, Jalan Chairil Anwar, East Bekasi.
Rahmat was reportedly arrested by the anti-corruption commission around 14.00 WIB in a place that has not yet been confirmed. Allegedly, he was arrested after attending a plenary meeting at the DPRD Building which ended around 12.00 WIB.
Before attending the plenary meeting, Rahmat Effendi was doing his usual activities. He worked in his office at Patriot Chandrabaga Stadium since morning, and received several guests. Rahmat’s office is in the stadium which has been used as an emergency hospital since the Covid 19 pandemic. The previous office was in the Bekasi City Government Plaza pavilion.
After being reported to have been arrested by the KPK, his workplace at the Patriot Stadium seemed deserted this afternoon. Likewise at his residence in the Pekayon Jaya Village area, South Bekasi District. There was only one officer guarding the house.
Previously, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri confirmed the arrest of Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi in a hand arrest operation or OTT on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. “Currently the Mayor of Bekasi and several related people are being investigated,” said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri in a written statement as quoted by ONENEWS.MY.ID in Jakarta, Wednesday.
