Borneo FC manager, Dandri Dauri complained about the tight schedule of matches which will be rolled out in the second round of Liga 1 2021-2022.
The second round of this season’s Liga 1 which will be held in Bali will start on Wednesday 5 January 2022.
The postponed match between Arema FC vs. Tira Persikabo will be the opening match for the 2021 Liga 1 second round.
Meanwhile, Borneo FC is scheduled to play its inaugural match against Persik Kediri on Saturday 8 January 2022.
After that, the team nicknamed Pesut Etam will struggle to complete the remaining 16 matches in just three months.
This means, if calculated, each team must compete every five days.
According to Dandri Dauri, this is clearly not the right competition system when referring to the competition wheel outside Indonesia.
However, like it or not Borneo FC and 17 other clubs have to live it to the end.
The reason is, PSSI wants the competition to be completed by the end of March.
“The schedule for matches in the second round of the season I can say is very crazy,” said Dandri Dauri, quoted from the club’s official website.
“I see that players have to really take advantage of the rest time to the maximum,” he added.
However, Dandri can breathe a sigh of relief because Borneo FC has prepared all aspects to fight in the second round of League 1.
One aspect that will determine the smooth running of Risto Vidakovic’s team through the competition is the depth of the squad.
Borneo FC has refreshed the team composition by bringing in a number of new players.
He is optimistic that Borneo FC can speak further because the core and back-up players both have almost equal qualities.
For that, Dandri only asked his players to be ready to give the best performance.
“Now it’s just a matter of how prepared the players are again. That’s why I say to the players all must be ready. Because their energy will be needed at any time,” he said.
So far, Borneo FC has brought in three new players, namely Kei Hirose, Serdy Ephi Fano and Indra Mustafa.
Dandri said that he was still open to the possibility of bringing in other new players.
“We are still looking at the possibilities in the next few days. What is clear now is that all players must be ready to face intense competition to achieve maximum results, while meeting management’s targets at the end of the season,” he concluded.
